Week #5 - Winter 2022 Litter

Weekly Litter Update - December 31, 2022

Yesterday we had a fun and exciting Selection Day! We are so excited that all of our puppies have their forever homes identified, and we are so comfortable and excited knowing that each of our puppies are going to great and loving homes.

We are headed into 2023 so blessed to have such a great community of O&M supporters and fans. It hasn't been easy, but we have enjoyed building this community of Cockapoo lovers. We have some big things brewing for 2023 but we'll save that for a different time.

For now we just want to say thank you to everyone who believed in us and for those who took a chance on us over the years. For those who received a puppy into your family this year, thank you, we love seeing pictures and getting updates.

Here's to a strong 2023 - O&M style!

Puppy Weight Tracker

During the first two weeks we weigh the puppies twice a day. After that we transition to a weekly weigh in. In the chart below we only display the average of the two weights for that day.

Puppy Proofing Your Home

Puppy proofing your home may seem like a daunting task, but it's easier than it sounds and will help not only in the protection of your valuable property, but also for the health and safety of your puppy.

Your puppy is going to be super curious and want to explore her new surroundings and she is completely depending on you for her safety.

We recommend that for the first few days in her new home that you keep her on her leash/lead. We like to use a 20-foot leash as that will give her plenty of space to explore, but also allow you to keep control on the pace of exploration. If you have a smaller space a shorter leash (i.e. 10 foot) is acceptable.

The first few days your puppy is in her new home are critical and requires lots of attention. However, for those moments when you cannot directly supervise your puppy you should place her in her crate or another secure area.

Your first line of defense is constant supervision, however accidents happen and your bound to drop your guard accidentally. This is where puppy-proofing is key. Puppy-proofing your puppy's space in your home is your second line of defense.

If it can fit into your puppy's mouth it'll go in your puppy's mouth. Small toys (like Legos) are particularly dangerous. Also, be sure that items that have small batteries are out of reach.

Walt Disney used to say that the best way to get a child's perspective in his park, was to get on their level. He was known to regularly walk his park and would often get down on his knees so that he could see what a child would see.

When it comes to puppy-proofing your home, we recommend a similar approach. Getting down on your hands and knees and thinking about your space with your puppy in mind you'll begin to see things you normally would overlook.

We've attached a checklist below and this is a great tool to help you during your puppy-proofing walk/crawl through as you make note of anything that you don't want your puppy to have access to and either re-locate it or secure it in such a way that your puppy can't access it.

When it comes to puppy-proofing your house, diligence and care here can make a world of difference for the health and safety of your puppy.
