Weekly Litter Update - November 27, 2022

After laboring for nearly 8 hours, Oakley delivered 5 beautiful puppies last night! Momma and puppies are all doing great and we couldn't be more proud of Oakley. Right now we'll be keeping a close eye on the puppies and helping Oakley when appropriate.

Puppy Weight Tracker
In addition to snapping pictures and tracking the puppies development, we will begin our weekly newsletter for the next eight weeks. These newsletters are our way of communicating updates, sharing pictures, and providing educational content. Starting next week, we'll populate the puppy weight tracker so you can watch their growth in this fun way. 👏😍🐾!

Announcing Litter Theme
At Oak & Magnolia we love the winter months. They remind us of time spent with friends and family as we reflect on the year past and anticipate the year ahead. Whether it's snuggling up with a hot cup of coffee and a good book or playing board games with our family, Winter memories are some of the best.
When it came to choosing a litter theme for these puppies, the choice was easy. With our tree themed company name, we knew we needed to incorporate names of some of our favorite types of Christmas trees! 🌲🎄🌲🎄
Litter Theme: Winter Trees
Douglas - red collar - male
Spruce - blue collar - male
Silver - silver collar - female

Article: The Importance of Grooming Your Dog
Grooming goes beyond keeping your Cockapoo clean. It also helps you stay aware of any health concerns such as lumps, bumps, cuts, or other problems so you can seek veterinary care early should the need arise.
The sooner you introduce your puppy to the grooming process, the more easily she will accept it. For brushing and nail trimming, place your puppy in a secure place. Go slowly, offer treats, and give lots of praise. If you are met with too much resistance to nail clipping, go back a step and just try holding the paws for 10 seconds every day. That will get your puppy used to having her paws handled.
One of the most endearing qualities of a Cockapoo is it's thick, beautiful coat. Cockapoos can have long, medium or short hair made up of tight curls or waves. This hair is prone to tangles and if left unchecked can turn into mats. Mats are clumps of tangled hair stuck together, making a huge mass of hair. Mats sit close to the skin making them very difficult to brush out. Failure to address tangles and mats in a timely manner can lead to painful skin problems for your puppy.
Another beautiful quality of the Cockapoo is its long floppy ears. However, if you fail to keep your dog's ears clean, it can turn into costly and painful ear infections. We recommend that you weekly or bi-weekly perform basic ear cleanings. This would include using a wet cotton ball with a pet-safe ear cleaner and use it to wipe the inside of the ear. A small amount of cleaner will naturally drip down into the ear canal. Gently massage the base of the ear with your fingers. Stand back and let your dog shake her head. Then use the cotton ball to gently wipe the ears out. Never stick a cotton swab into the ear canal of your dog as you can rupture her eardrum.

This is why we are pleased to offer a comfort pack that is designed to further help reduce anxiety and set you up for success with your new puppy.

If you'd like to purchase this package let us know as soon as possible and we will place one large order in a couple of weeks to ensure that we have all the items before go-home day.
Please note that we will do our best to purchase the items listed above, but due to on-going supply chain issues we may substitute some items for something similar if need be.
